Position Title

Engineering Manager

Position Summary

The Engineering Manager will drive the direction of IBC’s product development, R&D, cost reduction, documentation, manufacturing improvement and quality activities.

Location: Burnaby, BC

Type: Hybrid

Reporting to: Senior Director, Engineering

Essential Functions

• Drive the engineering team’s mechanical product engineering, R&D, cost reduction and documentation activities.
• Provide both day-to-day and strategic leadership to the manufacturing engineering and production quality functions.
• Oversee and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of NPI projects.
• Provide training, mentorship and leadership to product engineers, CAD developer, technical writers, manufacturing engineer and quality specialist.
• Support the planning and budgeting of the Engineering Department.
• Continuously refine product development processes.
• Strategically drive manufacturing process and quality improvement projects.
• Collaborate with Sr Director, Engineering to support key performance indicators across the Engineering Department.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Designation:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• P. Eng.

Work Experience:

• 8+ years of work experience in mechanical product design.
• 5+ years of work experience in leading manufacturing process changes and quality improvement.
• 3+ years of work experience leading projects and managing project budgets.
• Prior experience leading a team, either from a technical lead or managerial capacity.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Demonstrated leadership qualities.
• Ability to manage key talents and drive positive change.
• Expert knowledge of Solidworks.
• Practical in-depth knowledge of mechanical design.
• Expert knowledge of product certification process.
• Expert and practical knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
• Ability to develop and maintain rapport with stakeholders of all levels.
• Ability to communicate concisely and clearly through both written and verbal means.
